Her heart pumped so fast, she was afraid someone might hear it. She sprinted past long rows of trees, carefully placing her feet in fear of tripping. The thick-leaved trees blocked the moonlight, making it nearly impossible to spot the rocks and roots in front of her.
Soon the tree lines thinned, and at last the pink haired kunoichi burst into the clearing. The field was small and covered with grass and wild flowers, ending at a cliff that overlooked the Hidden Leaf village, or at least what was left and rebuilt after Pain's attack.
She sat on the soft grass and watched the stars, as the breeze lightly brushed her hair; and waited.

Sasuke watched her outside the operating room, hearing the muffled praises of her fellow medical ninja on another job well done. It always left him baffled how the long-haired, infatuated girl turned into a confident and successful young woman. She didn't stalk him anymore, didn't annoy him with pointless displays of affection. She had grown up.
Sakura came out, untying her hair and let it fall to her shoulders with a satisfied sigh. Her short hair was a constant reminder that she wasn't a little girl anymore. That she had dreams, desires other than making Uchiha Sasuke fall for her. When she saw him, a smile spread across her face.
